Round baskets, page 1
There's not enough room here to explain how round baskets are made but, I find that, each basket I make is generally
a bit better than the previous one. I think this is because I am learning to work with the willow so that it does not
break. My grandfather has a saying, "Het aug wildj aug get" - Also the eye wants something. As well as being
practical the basket must look good.
The photograph on the left is an ordinary basket for holding flowers during the summer. Here it is in the back garden next to the pond.
The third photograph shows some large baskets. The handles for these were not quiet perfect however after going
on a course in 2002 (see: history) my handles became much better.
