But it isn't so bad, you only need enough rods in the water. Only soak enough rods that you need or can use in the time. Peeled,
white osier, dries very quickly compared with brown (the bark is waterproof!)
The peeled willow should be mellowed under a damp cloth for a few hours
before using and kept under the cloth while you are working to keep it
moist. Soaking for too long makes the rods difficult to use. The
possibilities when using different colours are interesting. A couple
of white rows under the border looks good and when two or more colours are
used in French Randing diagonal and vertical striped effects can be
achieved. |
