Round baskets, page 3b

But it isn't so bad, you only need enough rods in the water. Only soak enough rods that you need or can use in the time.  Peeled, white osier, dries very quickly compared with brown (the bark is waterproof!) The peeled willow should be  mellowed under a damp cloth for a few hours before using and kept under the cloth while you are working to keep it moist. Soaking for too long makes the rods difficult to use. The possibilities when using different colours are interesting.  A couple of white rows under the border looks good and when two or more colours are used in French Randing diagonal and vertical striped effects can be achieved.
